Caminos de Altamira is a product of rural tourism situated in La Consulta, a small locality in the Uco Valley, in the department of San Carlos. You will be able to live all kinds of rural experiences, always accompanied by the local neighbors, authentic country people who will open their doors to tell you about their experiences and to show you their lives.
These people have spontaneously got together, combining their efforts to show tourists an accurate image of country life. The purpose of the project is to vindicate women's work, to offer life goals to the young and to stop the migrating current which is depopulating the rural areas.
Caminos de Altamira is in essence the union of strong forces willing to share their culture with tourists, and because of this, it is an anthropologic product where “the countryside” is the excuse, but "its people" is the real interest .It is a landscape of airs, colors and fragrances where you can enjoy the countryside at the pace of the sun.
Agricultural activities such as watering, vine tying, pruning and above all harvesting (cherries, peaches, pears, apples and grapes) will let you amuse yourself and understand the kind of life which is carried out in this part of the world. Besides, you will be able to take part in typical country women tasks such as the making of bread, "tortitas" (typically Mendocinean small round pastries), marmalades and preserves.
It is also possible to carry out activities such as trail hiking, trekking, bird-watching, riding on horses and sulkies (a typical two-wheeled vehicle drawn by a horse), balloon flying, etc.
