It is the practice of going down mountain rivers on pneumatic rafts. This activity does not require any previous experience in the low graded circuits. The only condition is to know how to swim.
Rafting is a team sport in which all the participants (generally six to eight people) row and orientate their weights with the intention of keeping the raft floating. The direction of the participants’ movements is in charge of a guide who must know in detail every part of the river.
Mendoza is one of the privileged places in South America to practice rafting. The Mendoza River, with its turbulent waters, assures a journey of emotion and adrenaline. Another classic rafting adventure is descending the Atuel River, which offers the geological show of the Atuel Canyon in the proximity of the city of San Rafael. Besides, in the department of Malargüe, you will enjoy the rushing waters of the Grande River.
If you want to experience something different, with a lot of adrenaline, you can try this activity which is already a classic adventure in Mendoza. The descent along the Mendoza River during full moon nights has been done for many years now. In spite of the moon light, the feeling of uncertainty which the night gives provides an experience charged with adrenaline and fun. The experimented guides know every part of the river by heart. The rafts are sent one after the other with only seconds of difference, and they are generally accompanied by expert kayakers who are always ready in case of any possible difficulty.
