El Carrizal is a dam which shares its surface with the departments of Rivadavia and Luján de Cuyo. It is an artificial lake of 15 kilometers long where a wide range of water sports and activities are carried out.
The dam was built in the 70s to control the volume of water of the Tunuyán River, which is still used for land irrigation. Spontaneously, sports and recreational facilities started being developed, thus becoming one of the main places for water sport activities: windsurfing, motor navigation, water-skiing, canoeing and fishing.
The environment generated around the lake also makes possible to enjoy activities such as horse riding, trekking, trail walking and camping. There are several nautical clubs, a windsurf school, camping sites, storehouses, restaurants and other comfortable facilities.
