Divisadero Largo Natural Reserve presents unique geological characteristics that confer to the place a particular beauty and a great scientific and educational value.
In this reserve, which is located in the Andean foothills, it is possible to observe a remarkable geological fault which reveals a period of the Earth history dating back to more than 200 million years. This fault is formed by beautiful layers of different colors: green, red, and violet, which contain fossil flora and fauna.
Due to its position between the mountains and the plain, the area has a rich biodiversity which includes: eagles, hawks, hummingbirds, foxes, “cuises” and “tunduques”. As regards the vegetation, there are “jarillas”, “chañares brea”, cacti and “coirones”.
The reserve has three different circuits which can be travelled on bicycle or walking. These can be combined with educational visits and scientific tourism.
It is important to remember that this is a protected area; therefore, it is forbidden to collect any fossil or geological material, as well as to affect the environment in any possible way.
