This Museum is situated in the old house of Emiliano Guiñazú, who acquired it in 1889. This house was the center of numerous Mendocinean aristocratic events between the XIX and XX centuries. Emiliano Guiñazú hired Fernando Fader, a famous painter of the times, to paint the walls of his house. While working there, he met Fernando Guiñazú's daughter, Adela Guiñazú, who he got married to.
The Museum is the home of artworks of important Argentinean artists. There are also reproductions of universal pieces of art, paintings and sculptures. In the hall and around the swimming pool, there are wonderful murals that Fernando Fader painted when the house was still the social center of the city.
It is also an important learning center for art students since it is considered a Fine Arts Museum in Mendoza. Students have the possibility to get to know not only universal pieces of art but also Fernando Fader´s important work collection.
